With their second album “Birth School Work Death”, The Godfathers laid the foundation for the punk and new wave sound of the 90s at the end of the 80s. A whole 35 years later, they are once again bringing their probably most successful album on tour in its entirety, accompanied of course by a mixture of classics and hits, as well as songs from their new album “Alpha Beta Gamma Delta”, which was released in 2022.
The group around frontman and founder Peter Coyne is considered one of the most influential bands of their genre and also made big waves outside the UK, for example, bands like Die Ärzte are among their long-time fans. After a successful run, the band decided to pursue other projects for the time being around the turn of the millennium. Reformation followed in 2008 and their line-up has been strengthened to date by former members of Heavy Drapes and scene giants The Damned, among others. It’s probably the musically strongest line-up of the Godfathers since their formation in 1985, who after sold-out shows in the UK are now touring the rest of Europe and further cementing their legendary status in punk rock.
